Introduction Slovakia and Japan is not only separated by huge geographical distance, but also by remarkable differences between cultures and languages. Nonetheless, cooperation between the two countries is slowly developing and it has a growing tendency. One of the most significant milestones helping our (enabling to develop this) relationship was Slovakia´s integration into European Union on 1st May 2004. It is obvious that this maturing relationship can only be maintained if we carry on building bridges that help to approach each other easier. Slovak-Japanese Chamber of Commerce (SJOK) was established in October 2006 as a non-profit and non-government organization. His Excellency Makoto Washizu, former Japanese ambassador in Slovakia, also supported this idea at the opening ceremony. Our priority is to expand and improve economic relationship between Slovakia and Japan in general. We help organizations and individuals from both countries approach each other and make their cooperation successful and effective. In addition, we reduce time and costs necessary for achieving this goal. Another of our priorities is to expand economic relationships and mutual business between particular Slovak and Japanese companies. We assist companies with various administrative matters so that they can run their business smoothly. Cooperation with our clients has been built gradually upon trust and devoted personal service.
